Fashion design is the art of applying design and aesthetics, or natural beauty, to clothing. COUTOUR (koo TOOR) is the French word for “sewing.” High Contour refers to clothing that is custom made and fitted by the designer. True fashion or designer items are expensive and available in limited quantities.
Who
Couture clothing is chosen by the affluent, the sophisticated, and the influential client who is willing to invest time and money into the quality of their apparel. Our clientele is not defined by how they look – they are defined by their attitude: assertive, stylish, confident and cutting edge, demanding the same cachet from their clothing. For our clients, fashion is the ultimate expression of their own style. It’s more of a sophisticated work of art. MAP is for people who prefer to stand out from the norm by their refined or cultured tastes and habits.
Fit
Couture clothes are those that are fitted and sewn specifically for a client, often requiring several fittings for an exact fit. In contrast, mass-produced clothing is in standard sizes and sold through department stores. While consumers can have pieces tailored to fit after purchase, customization is not included in the cost of ready-to-wear apparel. MAP offers made-to-measure apparel. The clothes may be specifically designed for the client, such as a one-of-a-kind wedding dress or a one-of-a-kind red carpet ensemble, or they may be part of a designer’s collection, which are the pieces the designer shows that are available for custom fit. However, MAP still creates a handful of couture pieces upon request for influential clients. The pieces can be made from the measurements the designer has on file from the client’s previous fittings.
Style
MAP designs an exclusive, original collection each season. Each garment is individually cut to the customer’s specifications. The garments are made-to-order on location to fit perfectly, which allows any style to be made in any size. What makes MAP unique is the ability to offer every client an opportunity to wear a glamorous gown, cocktail dress, tailored suit, or casual outfit made to fit their specific body type and proportion. MAP’s creativity and warm personality inspire people to see themselves as wonderfully and uniquely made in a way that nothing off the rack can match. There are limited options on a department store rack. The client can also very easily just “customize” or “make changes” to any one of our current and existing designs. Want shirts with spread collars and French cuffs? Not a problem. Contrasting shirt and collar? The choices are all up to you and everything is within your reach.

The first step to bringing your dream garment to life is providing MAP with all of your preferences, specifications, and requirements so an estimate can be provided. This information can be shared during an individualized consultation. This consultation requires a non-refundable deposit $25 which will be applied towards your overall invoice. Before beginning work on the garment, we require a cutting fee and good faith deposit to equal no less than 50% of the estimated base retail price. The final balance is payable after completion. Please allow as much time as possible for custom or customized garments. MAP collection dresses begin at $100. Custom formal gowns and prom dresses usually start at bit higher.
All garments are made to order on location.
